Edgecombe Co., NC (February 19, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident reported in Edgecombe County on Saturday evening claimed the lives of multiple people while leaving multiple others injured. The accident occurred during the evening hours on February 17.
According to reports, a collision involving a Saturn SUV and a Dodge pickup truck took place on US Highway 64 ALT. The incident blocked multiple lanes near Kingsboro Road. The force of the crash caused the SUV to flip over and come to rest in a nearby field. Authorities arrived at the scene and immediately shut down the roadway.
Three people involved in the accident were fatally injured. The victims were pronounced deceased by authorities. Three additional victims were injured. One of the victims was airlifted and flown by helicopter to an area hospital. Two additional victims were transported by ambulance. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
