Santee, SC (January 8, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident in Orangeburg County claimed one person’s life while leaving several other victims injured. The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon, January 7.
At around 2:40 p.m. the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on US Highway 301. Reports from authorities show that a 2007 Saturn sedan and a 2022 Kia sedan collided on the highway near US Highway 176. The driver and three passengers in the Saturn were severely injured. All four victims were airlifted from the scene and flown to an area hospital for emergency care. One of the victims passed away after arriving. Two additional victims in the vehicle were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. The driver of the Kia was also severely injured and airlifted from the scene. At this time, investigations into the accident are ongoing.
