Bamberg, SC (December 22, 2023) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal accident that took place on Tuesday evening in Bamberg County. The accident occurred at approximately 635 p.m. on December 19.
Reports from Highway Patrol indicate that a 2000 Toyota pickup truck was heading eastbound on Highway 78 during the evening hours. As the vehicle proceeded through the intersection of South Carolina 61, it collided with a 2018 Nissan sedan. One person in the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital for emergency care. The driver of the sedan and two passengers, including one juvenile victim, were transported to area hospitals. Authorities confirmed that one of the passengers in the sedan ended up passing away from their injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
